Structure and Pattern of Formative Assessment:

 

Formative Assessment is a competency-based test to assess students’ performance in multiple dimensions. Different assessment tools will be utilised to assess students’ performance inside and outside class room activities. It includes Classroom observations, Weekend tests, Bimonthly tests, observing student performance in various learning environments, including – Library, Laboratory, Playground, Social activities, Cultural activities, Participation in student clubs, etc.,

 

Assessment Tools and Marks Weightage:

 

For class I and II:

  • Formative assessments are conducted with age-appropriate tools to assess performance of the class I and II children.
  • This includes activity based and paper pencil
  • Teacher will assess and record the responses of the individual

For the first three tools’ rubrics along with assessment material will be provided to the teachers in the form of teachers’ Tool -IV will be conducted as a paper pencil test consisting of Telugu, English and Mathematics. The structure of this test is as follows.

 

Formative Assessment Written Test for classes I and II is a paper pencil test for 20 marks. The question paper is divided into 2 sections – A and B. This includes two types of questions namely Multiple-Choice Questions and Short Answer Questions.

  • Project work: 5 marks
  • Written test: 35 marks

Tool 1: Children’s participation and reflections: This is subject specific formative assessment tool. This includes

Tool 2: Written Work: This includes on time completion of exercises given in textbooks and workbooks, Notes writing, Children dairy and other writing activities at school and home level. 3 marks will be allotted for on time completion of written works, 2 marks allotted for neat and legible handwriting. (Teachers are advised to conduct calligraphy activities for good hand writing.)

 

Tool 3: Project Work: Project works will be creative not cut and paste activities. Do not ask students to go for internet.

Formative Assessment Written Test for classes III to V is a paper pencil test for 35 marks. The question paper is divided into 3 sections – A, B, and C. This includes three types of questions namely Multiple-Choice Questions, Short Answer Questions and Long Answer Questions.

Note: For classes VIII, IX, and X, the Science Formative Assessment (FA) will consist of two papers: Physical Science (PS) and Biological Science (BS). Each paper will follow the same format as outlined above. The assessments should be conducted separately in different sessions. Other assessment tools should also be evaluated separately, and records should be maintained accordingly. However, the final results should be consolidated as a single subject when entering them.
